Dutch beer
giant Heineken is making efforts to become a greener brand. According to the
financial daily Financieel Dagblad, the brewery is considering involvement in
the construction of a wind farm in the central Dutch province of Flevoland.
Heineken
also has plans to re-design its Zoeterwoude brewery to run partly on energy
generated from its own windmills.
“Investments
like these fit into our plans for using renewable energy as an alternative to
our current power consumption,” a spokesperson told the newspaper.
Negotiations
between Heineken and wind farm project leaders are still in the exploratory
phase.
