The capital’s deputy governor has said he plans to begin rolling out
solar-powered street lighting in order to save money over the longer term.
“For the
first stage, we will use solar power for street and traffic lights,” Deputy
Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said.
“We will
also use such solar power for the city lights including the city parks.”
Djarot
added that the city would work with the National Energy Council to study the
measures, presumably before launching a tender.
